許多同學在小學二年級、三年級時選擇踏出舒適圈，挑戰演講比賽。講稿通常是由他人代筆，也因此許多同學在未能完全掌握文意、句型前就死記硬背。這樣的過程不僅對文法單字應用無法理解，還可能造成同學心理上的不舒服。演講的輸贏在於評審主觀意識，外型、氣質、語氣、講稿等等都能左右最後的成績。所以駱駝認為，參與演講比賽的重點在於：選擇挑戰後，那就全力以赴，同時也藉此機會加深加廣英文能力。
針對演講比賽，駱駝會與孩子直接討論講稿內容。老師以同學的角度客製化講稿。講稿產出後，也會與孩子逐句核對，確認他接受與否。若能了解自己在說什麼，孩子準備起來才不會心累。

Ethan：小二、小三皆參加演講比賽
小學二年級比賽紀錄
不諱言，小二的Ethan未有能力寫稿及將英文句型應用自如，但願意接受挑戰，踏出舒適圈，是一種生活態度的展現。
2022.12.31接到Ethan 媽媽來電，說明Ethan想參加同濟會舉辦的演講比賽。但過去比賽經驗倚重『死記硬背』，整體表現顯得僵硬，所以希望能夠透過遠距上課來引導Ethan了解演講內容、單字解釋、句型分析、練習肢體語言。
不諱言，小二的Ethan未有能力寫稿及將英文句型應用自如，但願意接受挑戰，踏出舒適圈，是一種生活態度的展現。駱駝寫好講稿後，立即和Ethan媽媽講解內容及寫作時的考量。對於Ethan，駱駝將每個單字及名詞透過各種換句話說、圖片輔助，解釋到讓小二的Ethan明瞭快時尚及其衍伸的環境問題。
不死背，用孩子語言一起用中英文探索未知領域使枯燥乏味的議題也變得有趣。
稿中不乏專有名詞及多數同學不擅長的數目表達，駱駝不是故意刁難同學，而是希望同學能利用數據，透過具體例證 來說服他人買單自己的論點而非講講空話而已。
除了單字外，句型應用和文法教學也要用小二的語言和同學溝通。透過Ethan已知的生活情境搭配講稿內的文法、句型造很多例句，慢慢得再延伸到講稿內容，告訴他只是換單字而已，內容便不顯的生硬複雜。
Ethan起初覺得挑戰，非常沒有自信。幾次上課後，他認份地為自己所追求的比賽負責，課堂中積極參與課程並且樂於發問，課後也願意配合大量練習。
練習過程中，駱駝親自在Line上錄音、陪伴並且針對媽媽回傳的練習影片調整發音、語速、手勢等。不僅讓Ethan能隨時複習，更是家長陪伴練習的最佳指引。
此次演講比賽是Ethan主動想參加兼具挑戰，孩子既然想做，駱駝和家長一樣是給予無限支持。
目標導向、陪伴學習的駱駝英文，也謝謝Ethan是個積極負責勇於挑戰的孩子。儘管名次不是最好，但努力的過程絕對是這輩子難忘的體驗。
Ethan小二英語演講比賽講稿全文：
Today, I am going to talk about what we wear and where we live. When it comes to saving our planet, what’s the first thing on your mind? Is it air pollution from cars or scooters?
Guess what. After oil, the second largest polluter in the world is on us. Eight to ten percent of global greenhouse emissions comes from the fashion industry, and this is more than airplanes and ships altogether. Each year, around eighty to one hundred and fifty billion garments are made and sold. Sadly, about 60 percent of all clothes made goes to incinerators or landfills just within a few years of being made. To make clothes cheap, but still make money, many clothing companies exploit not only workers but also our Mother Nature. Because clothes shops put new clothes on the market very often, it is very easy to see them make clothes fast. Instead of using plants to make clothes, many clothes makers use polyester to make clothes because it is cheap and easy to get.
However, this is very bad for our environment because non-degradable materials go into the sea and hurt the sea life so much. So, we must do something now to save our planet! But how? It’s super easy. Always wear something made of plants and think twice before buying new clothes. This can save your wallet and our only planet, too.

Ethan 三年級參加演講比賽
這次選擇的題目是「如果我的寵物會說話，他會對我說什麼呢？」因為同學家中飼養狗狗，駱駝認為這樣的內容比較貼近同學的生活。儘管這次比賽沒有得到名次，雖敗猶榮。分享為Ethan訂製的講稿。與二年級的海洋垃圾相比，此次講稿完全貼合他小學三年級的身份及生活經歷。
題目："If Animals Could Talk: Imagining Conversations with Pets" "如果動物會說話 :想像與寵物的對話”
Good morning, judges, boys and girls. My number is ______ and today I am talking about what my pet would share if it could speak.
Imagine one day, if your furry companions could speak, what things would they share? I have a pet dog. She is a red poodle and her name is “Yi-bai-fen”. The name means scoring 100 marks in Mandarin. When I call her name, good luck also arrives.
If she actually spoke, she would argue that she wasn’t perfect at all. She would say, “ Dear human, dear family, I don’t deserve the name because I still can’t control myself. I pee everywhere, on your bed, on the sofa, under the dining table and even in the car. You need to train me more so that I can find a suitable place to relieve myself.” “Also, I feel lonely because I can’t sleep with you guys on the same bed at nights and I am mostly locked inside the house in the daytime.” “ since I complain a lot, I am not perfect”
Even if she complained like this, I would still love her. Without her, I wouldn’t be able to fight against the loneliness since I am the only child. She deserves the name because she makes my life beautiful and bright. “Hey, Yibaifen, don’t worry, I will teach you where to pee and you will be sleeping next to me on the bed.” “I also promise that I will walk you every night after dinner so that you can explore the world outside.”
Overall, if my pet could talk, I would listen to its complaints and make changes for it just like how my mom looks after me.

因Ethan相當熟悉講稿，正式比賽時講的稍快，未能超過兩分半鐘，所以總分上比較吃虧。不過雖敗猶榮，這一次的準備體驗，Ethan雖然覺得累，但是也很開心能學到很多東西。以下是Ethan比賽當天的影片，分享給大家。
講稿教學時，老師也會利用不同顏色及文字來標記發音上的重點。
家長課後想陪伴練習，無奈自身英文不好怎麼辦？歡迎將練習過程錄影、錄音，並傳送給駱駝。在Line上，駱駝提供講解跟輔助，有效率地陪伴孩子練習。
儘管比賽沒有得名，駱駝也會鼓勵學生不要放棄英文，和同齡的同學相比，Ethan願意利用寒假時間加強英文發音、口條、文法，對他而言，這個過程儘管辛苦，但是也能嚐到追逐夢想的滋味。
